Initial Impressions:

Here are a few of my initial thoughts after unboxing this 2020 Air Max 90 OG “Volt”. A full written review of this shoe will be posted after I’ve had more time to analyze the shoe.

• It had been a little over a decade since I had last purchased a pair Air Max 90s. I had lost interest in the silhouette do to the updated shape, but the OG “Volt” peaked my interest.

• I really love the color-blocking of the “Volt” and that goes for the other OG colorways too. The hits of color are perfectly placed and not overdone.

• I love the “low-cut” paneling on the OG Volts compared to the “high-cut” on the newer retro model. The thinner panel gives the shoe a much sleeker and better look in my opinion. It’s amazing how a subtle change can make a HUGE difference in a shoe’s overall shape and look. When it comes to any type of design, the details do matter.

• I had forgotten just how comfortable the Air Max 90 is. As soon as I put my foot in the sneaker, my mind went back to my high-school and college days when these were my go-to casual shoes.

• I usually go down a half-size in my New Balance shoes, but these Nike’s definitely fit more true-to-size (TTS).

As I’m writing this post, Footlocker has a full size run on the Men’s pairs, so now might be the best time to cop before sizes start to sellout.

how i purchased

I was able to visit my local Champs Sports on release day to purchase this shoe for $20 below retail after using an in-store coupon.

At the time, the store’s manager stated that they had only received a small number of pairs, but had more stock on the way.

If you’re interesting getting a pair, visit or call-up your local shoe store to see if they have them in stock.

Lastly, Nike SNKRS will be releasing the Men’s pairs on January 15, 2020.
