2022 Air Max Day Preview
March is Air Max Month and this year Nike has big plans to commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the iconic Air Max 1 - the silhouette which symbolizes the beginning of a legacy.
The Backstory:
On March 26, 1987 Nike unveiled a groundbreaking running shoe (Air Max 1) designed by famed footwear designer, Tinker Hatfield. Since 2014, sneaker fans across the globe universally recognize 3/26 as “Air Max Day”.
Air Max Day 2022
2022 marks the 35th Anniversary of the Air Max 1 silhouette so it’s no surprise that this year’s Air Max Day will be headlined by the release of a trio of region-exclusive Air Max 1s.
However, in the weeks and days leading up to Air Max Day, Nike has also helped to increase excitement around the annual celebration by teaming up with Concepts. The two are dropping 3 psychedelic iterations of the iconic AM1 that pay homage to the hippy concert era of the ‘60s.
In addition, the Beaverton, Oregon based brand plans to release a brand new silhouette (Air Max Motif) that looks to be a clear nod to its predecessor.

2022 Air Max Day Releases:
On 3/26 Nike has cooked up some heat for the global Air Max 1 fanbase looking to commemorate the 35th Anniversary with a “W” on Air Max Day.
The North American region will have access to the “Blueprint” iteration which features a glow-in-the-dark outsole and air bubble that is a nod to the shoe’s original ad campaign.
The Asia-Pacific region will have access to the “Wabi-Sabi” iteration which features unique stitching details, interchangeable tongue-label inserts, and a simulated cracked midsole.
The European region will have access to the “La Ville Lumiére” iteration which features iridescent midfoot and heel panels, a semi-translucent outsole and “3/26” tongue label.
